About Us
We are Tope & Alessio.
Gioyous was founded by Tope and Alessio, a couple brought together by their love for Italy, its food, and its way of life.
Born and raised in South London, Tope has always felt a deep connection to Italy, inspired by family holidays filled with incredible food, a strong sense of community, and the country’s slower, more intentional pace of life. Alessio, originally from Rome, moved to London in 2013 but has always kept his Italian roots alive. While he loves the vibrancy of London, he often longs for the effortless joy and warmth of Italian culture, the way meals bring people together and how life is embraced with ease.
Together, they created Gioyous, a name that blends gioiosa (Italian for “joyful”) with joyous, to share their passion for Italian hospitality. Their retreats offer more than an escape; they invite guests to slow down, indulge in exceptional food, and experience the beauty of connection, community, and la dolce vita.
